Teen Apprenticeship Program (TAP)

Teen apprenticeship Program

Stage Kids is seeking mature teens with a commitment to learning theater-craft.

Students must commit to 3 to 12 weeks at a time, depending on project. Interns need to be available for all rehearsals and performances during the chosen time.

Through its apprentice program, Stage Kids WA (SKWA) cultivates the next generation of theater professionals. We accomplish this through hands-on experience in all of the different facets of producing live theater by interacting with directors and technicians.
Apprentices observe and work with SKWA instructors and theatre professionals. Teen apprentices have the opportunity to teach & assist performance companies of children in drama, dance and voice classes / rehearsals.

All internships are unpaid. Interns must arrange for their own transportation.

  • Must have performed in at least one Stage Kids or Stage TEENS productions or taken at least 2 sessions of classes.
  • Must complete an Internship application and meet with the director for an interview (which applicant must initiate).

Date Saturday, January 6, 2018

Class Details

  • WHERE DO I START? If your child is new to Stage Kids classes, they'll what to take our core class called Musical Theater 1. The next semester, they would enroll in Musical Theater 2! This ensures all Stage Kids have the same basic theater knowledge, skills, and vocabulary. These two core classes are prerequisites for many elective courses.
  • DO I NEED TO COMPLETE MUSICAL THEATER 1 & 2 BEFORE I CAN BE IN A SHOW?  No - kids can take a class WHILE enrolled in a core class. In other words, even if it’s your child's first time at Stage Kids, they could take Musical Theater 1 AND be in the show at the same time! We offer Musical Theater 1 & 2 on Mondays & Tuesdays so they can be taken the hour before show rehearsal time.
  • Keeping our Stage Kids, families, and staff safe is our number one priority. We are constantly updating our policies and protocols in alignment with the latest guidance from local and state authorities. Read our COVID-19 Response Plan here.

Alternative Instruction

Stage Kids partners with great local musical theater instructors to offer one-on-one training as well! Enrollment with these instructors satisfies the class requirement for participation in a Spotlight Production.

PRIVATE VOICE INSTRUCTION
Beginners and advanced students are welcome to build their vocal skills one-on-one with our delightful instructor, Rachel Powers! Each student will be evaluated and provided customized coaching to grow from wherever they are at. Contact Mrs. Powers directly to book your instruction: r.powers@me.com.

“Class Act”
Showcase Information

Our Class Act is an "informance" for kids to share what they've learned in their classes! In most classes this takes place during the last 15 minutes of their final class. Parents will receive an email with the Class Act information.

Willy wonka jr.

Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka JR. follows enigmatic candy manufacturer Willy Wonka as he stages a contest by hiding golden tickets in five of his scrumptious candy bars. Whomever comes up with these tickets will win a free tour of the Wonka factory, as well as a lifetime supply of candy. Four of the five winning children are insufferable brats, but the fifth is a likeable young lad named Charlie Bucket, who takes the tour in the company of his equally amiable grandfather. The children must learn to follow Mr. Wonka's rules in the factory — or suffer the consequences.
